Electrovaya Begins Deliveries of Battery Systems for A Second Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Platform for Major U.S. Automotive OEM

Electrovaya Inc. (TSX: EFL) today announced that it has started delivering battery packs to a second Plug-In-Hybrid vehicle platform from a major North American automotive OEM. Electrovaya had earlier announced in March 2010, that it is delivering batteries for its first PHEV for another vehicle platform.

“We are extremely pleased to be supplying lithium Ion SuperPolymer(R) based battery packs to this second major PHEV automotive platform, which has global recognition,” stated Dr. Sankar DasGupta, CEO of Electrovaya. “This development is a significant breakthrough in the Company’s goal of becoming the major battery supplier for the Electric Automotive marketplace”.

Electrovaya’s Lithium Ion SuperPolymer® Battery System for this Plug-In-Hybrid vehicle features the company’s proprietary battery technology, battery management system and complete mechanical, thermal, electrical and electronic subsystems.
